Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I have benefited greatly from counseling and therapy in the past. I cannot understate the importance of having an unbiased person to help you process what you're going through so that you can make the best decisions for your life and cope better with all of life's challenges. I am so excited to be that person for others.
What types of clients do you work with best?
Adults. I also have extensive experience with the elderly.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
Peers and couples!
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
I wish they could fully understand the benefits of therapy before going in.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I love the flexible model for both clients and therapists alike.
What inspires you?
Hope. Faith. Sunshine.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
Warm, inviting conversation and a safe space to express who they are.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
Rapport building, establishing a comfort zone for them.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
I tend to be very solution-focused. We will work on strategies for coping and processing your unique situations in a non-judgmental, safe space.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I love to cook, read fiction, drink coffee, travel and play piano. Music is always a part of my free time, whether that is playing music, listening to music or going to concerts.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
Faith. I don't know who I am without that. But also just being a solid friend, wife, aunt, and daughter.
Can you tell us about a success you had with a client?
The majority of my experience has been in crisis intervention in the inpatient setting. My greatest successes have been watching patients go from feeling like they can't cope with any aspect of their lives and requiring hospitalization, to feeling ready for discharge back into the world with the tools they need to succeed.
