About Zeferino
Hello, I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) dedicated to helping individuals, couples, and families navigate life's challenges and achieve meaningful personal growth. I work with adolescents, adults, and families facing anxiety, depression, stress, anger, relationship difficulties, family conflict, behavioral challenges, self-esteem concerns, and life adjustments, as well as those seeking to overcome unhealthy patterns, improve communication, and develop healthier coping strategies. My goal is to provide a nonjudgmental space where clients can move toward greater well-being and a more fulfilling life.
My counseling approach is collaborative, compassionate, and goal-oriented. I primarily utilize CBT to help clients identify unhelpful thought patterns, develop healthier behaviors, and build practical coping skills. I also provide faith-sensitive counseling for clients who want to incorporate their spiritual beliefs into the therapeutic process.
Seeking help is a courageous step, and you do not have to face life's challenges alone. I am committed to providing a compassionate space where you can feel heard, understood, and empowered. If you are ready to invest in your well-being, I invite you to schedule an appointment and begin your journey toward greater hope, resilience, and lasting change.

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I decided to become a counselor because I have always been passionate about helping people overcome challenges, discover their strengths, and experience meaningful growth. Throughout my life and professional journey, I have seen how emotional struggles, relationship difficulties, and life transitions can impact individuals and families. These experiences inspired me to pursue a career where I could provide support, guidance, and practical tools to help others navigate difficult seasons and create positive change. As a counselor, I find it deeply rewarding to walk alongside clients as they gain insight, develop resilience, strengthen relationships, and move toward healthier and more fulfilling lives. My goal is to create a safe and supportive environment where individuals feel heard, valued, and empowered to reach their personal goals.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with adolescents, adults, couples, and families who are motivated to create positive change in their lives. Many of my clients are navigating challenges such as anxiety, depression, stress, relationship difficulties, family conflict, behavioral concerns, life transitions, and self-esteem issues. I also enjoy working with individuals who are seeking personal growth, improved emotional wellbeing, healthier relationships, and more effective coping strategies. In addition, I have experience supporting clients who desire a faithsensitive approach to counseling and want to integrate their spiritual beliefs into the healing process. Whether clients are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, discouraged, or simply looking for guidance during a difficult season, I strive to provide a supportive environment where they can gain insight, develop practical skills, and move toward meaningful and lasting change.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
One thing I wish all clients knew is that healing is a process, not a destination. Meaningful change rarely happens overnight, and progress is often made through small, consistent steps rather than dramatic breakthroughs. It is normal to experience setbacks, challenges, and moments of uncertainty along the way. These experiences do not mean you are failing—they are often a natural part of growth. Therapy is not about being "fixed"; it is about gaining insight, developing new skills, building resilience, and creating healthier ways of thinking, feeling, and relating to others. With patience, commitment, and support, lasting change is possible, and every step forward matters.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
In the first session, clients can expect a welcoming, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where they have the opportunity to share their concerns, goals, and reasons for seeking therapy. I take time to get to know each client as a whole person, including their current challenges, personal strengths, relationships, background, and any factors that may be impacting their well-being. The initial session is also an opportunity for clients to ask questions, discuss expectations, and determine whether we are a good fit to work together. During the early stages of therapy, we work collaboratively to identify treatment goals, gain a deeper understanding of the issues bringing the client to counseling, and develop a personalized plan for growth and healing. Clients can expect to learn practical coping strategies, increase selfawareness, and begin identifying patterns in their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that may be contributing to their difficulties. My goal is to create a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship where clients feel heard, supported, and empowered as they take meaningful steps toward positive and lasting change.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
My practice is guided by a deep belief in the inherent worth, dignity, and potential of every person. Throughout my personal and professional journey, I have witnessed how life's challenges can impact individuals, couples, and families, but I have also seen the remarkable resilience people possess when they are given support, understanding, and the right tools for growth. These experiences have reinforced my commitment to providing compassionate, clientcentered care that honors each person's unique story and strengths. I value authenticity, empathy, respect, and collaboration, and I strive to create a therapeutic environment where clients feel safe, heard, and accepted without judgment. My approach is grounded in the belief that meaningful change is possible and that healing often occurs through increased self-awareness, healthy relationships, and intentional action. For clients who desire it, I also appreciate the role that faith, spirituality, and personal values can play in the healing process and am committed to integrating these elements in a way that aligns with their goals and beliefs. I believe that every client is unique, which is why I do not take a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. I tailor treatment by taking time to understand each client's individual experiences, strengths, challenges, values, cultural background, relationships, and personal goals. Together, we develop a treatment plan that reflects what is most important to the client and addresses their specific needs and circumstances. While I primarily utilize evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I adapt interventions based on the client's presenting concerns, learning style, personality, and stage of change. Some clients may benefit from structured skill-building and goal setting, while others may need more time processing emotions, exploring relationship patterns, or developing self-awareness. For clients who desire a faith-sensitive approach, I can also incorporate spiritual beliefs and values into the therapeutic process. My goal is to provide personalized care that empowers clients to make meaningful progress, build on their strengths, and achieve lasting growth and healing.
