About Tara
I am a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT) with 5 years of experience and a deep commitment to helping individuals, couples, and families heal, grow, and rediscover their sense of self. As someone who has personally walked through seasons of transformation, I bring authenticity, empathy, and professional expertise to each session. I specialize in supporting youth, young adults, and couples navigating behavioral challenges, emotional dysregulation, anxiety, depression, ADHD, and substance use concerns.
I earned my master’s in marriage and family therapy with a specialization in children and adolescents from Northcentral University. My therapeutic approach integrates cognitive behavioral therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy to help clients challenge negative thought patterns, strengthen coping skills, and create meaningful, lasting change.
Healing takes courage, and you don’t have to walk that road alone. My goal is to meet you where you are, help you uncover your inner strength, and guide you toward peace and purpose. When you’re ready, I’ll walk with you on your journey toward healing, balance, and renewed confidence.

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I became a counselor because I know what it feels like to struggle and still believe that there’s more inside of you than your pain or your past. As a woman who’s experienced the journey of finding identity, purpose, and freedom, I wanted to help others do the same. I’ve seen how the right support can change the course of someone’s life. Counseling allows me to combine evidence-based tools with genuine compassion to help people heal, grow, and walk in purpose.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with youth, young adults, and couples who are ready to grow, even if they’re unsure where to start. Many of my clients face challenges with ADHD, addiction, anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, or executive functioning. I especially enjoy working with individuals who feel stuck or overwhelmed and want to build healthier patterns, stronger coping skills, and a greater sense of purpose and freedom.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
One thing I wish all clients knew is that healing usually does not happen overnight or with one session - it IS a process and it's okay to take it one step at a time. I want them to know that therapy is safe space to be seen, heard, and understood.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
In your first session, you can expect a safe, nonjudgmental space to share your story and what’s brought you to therapy. Together, we’ll explore your goals, identify challenges, and begin building a plan tailored to your needs. In the early stages, we focus on understanding patterns, establishing trust, and learning practical tools for coping, emotional regulation, and growth.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
My practice is deeply informed by my experiences as a woman of color who has navigated the journey of finding identity, purpose, and freedom from personal struggles. My first published book "More Than Just Words" highlights my own poetic journey from pain to purpose as I dealt with depression in my early 20s. I value empathy, authenticity, and empowerment, and I strive to create a space where clients feel seen, understood, and supported. These experiences guide my approach, helping me connect with clients on a personal and meaningful level while guiding them toward growth, healing, and resilience.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I tailor therapy by understanding that each client is unique, coming with their own experiences, strengths, and challenges. I also adapt my style to match each client's developmental and intellectual levels and preferences. This approach ensures that therapy is personalized.
