Hello, I am Monica Kapoor, LCPC, LCADC. As a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, and a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor, my professional background is rooted in providing comprehensive therapy, tailored to the individual. In my practice, I work with clients navigating mental health challenges, addictions, or both. The clients are often dealing with complex real-world difficulties from managing daily life, alongside their issues. Sometimes life's transitions take a toll too. I meet my clients where they are, and help them uncover their innate strengths, and accomplish meaningful goals they have set for themselves.

I utilize an integrative, collaborative, and trauma-informed approach, which includes techniques and therapeutic approaches which vary—for example, clients may need actionable skills, uncover root causes, or need intense work on resolving their traumas.

Wherever you might find yourself in your journey today, your story matters, and you don't have to carry it entirely on your own. Taking this step can feel overwhelming, but you are not alone. I appreciate and respect your courage to seek therapy. When you are ready, I invite you to reach out and schedule an appointment.

"I believe that the "capacity to heal" is woven into our fabric of life as human beings. I will work with you, in a safe, empathic, non-judgmental space; where we can honor your pain, make sense of your struggles, so you can achieve your goals."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

I have seen how hardest seasons of life can help transform, heal and nurture growth. Hence, I have chosen to be a mental health and addictions counselor, as the immense value of lived experience is priceless. In a therapeutic collaborative space, this can be insightful, and unlock the capacity to heal.

What types of clients do you work best with?

I work with clients who have mental health and/or substance use issues. Whether life is challenging, or it's just a hard day, together, we can work on it.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?

Therapy is a collaborative approach. We heal and transform at our own pace, since it isn't a linear process. We can "Grow Through, what we Go Through.

What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?

The first session is focused on understanding your reason/reasons to take therapy, building safety, gathering history, informed consent, confidentiality, and building the therapeutic relationship. In the early stages of therapy, we focus on your goals, strengths, and working on various things like- identifying core patterns, developing emotional safety, understanding dynamics etc.

What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?

The personal values and life experiences are rooted in deep respect for human resilience, the power of connection, and a genuine PersonCentered Approach.

How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?

Depending on the client's goals, strengths, and what drives them to explore this path.
