About Provider

About Wendy

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 7 years of experience assisting adolescents, adults, and seniors to better manage the effects of anger, depression, anxiety, poor communication, or underdeveloped coping skills. I earned my Master's degree in Social Work from Rutgers University. I identify as a therapist, mother, wife, daughter, aunt, niece, cousin, friend, and co-worker. Wearing all of these hats has taught me to value relationships. As a therapist, I’m also a firm believer that all relationships begin with the individual. Self-awareness is the first step to a better understanding of oneself.

I value self-awareness as the cornerstone of personal growth. I believe that understanding oneself is the first step toward improving relationships with others and navigating the world more effectively. I’m dedicated to helping clients unpack past experiences, resolve internal or external conflicts, and break free from patterns.

My approach is compassionate, supportive, and non-judgmental, and I use humor to help clients feel at ease in the therapeutic space. My goal is to empower you to develop the skills and strategies necessary to live a positive, productive, and purposeful life. If you’re feeling stuck or overwhelmed, I’m here to guide you on your journey.

Get to know Wendy

Why did you decide to become a counselor?

I don't know if I decided to be a counselor or if it was decided for me. I believe that we all have a purpose and helping others become their best selves by empowering them always felt like mine. I have always enjoyed talking and listening to people. Learning how people relate to others as well as helping them with their own self awareness and personal growth are all important to me. I have found counseling to be very rewarding.

What types of clients do you work with best?

Those that recognize that sometimes they may need help dealing with life experiences and who find the courage to seek out assistance

What type of clients are you most excited to work with?

I am most excited to work with those that are brave enough to make the call and who choose me as someone that can assist them.

What’s one thing you wish all clients knew?

One thing that I wish all clients knew is that they have the strength and power within themselves, and therapy is a tool to empower them to discover and be their best selves.

Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?

I chose Thriveworks because I believe that everyone has the potential to grow and to thrive. Thriveworks' mission as well as my own is to help people live happy and successful lives. Thriveworks not only offers support for clients but is very supportive of the clinicians as well.

What inspires you?

I am inspired by the fact that each day offers us an opportunity to continue our journey and offers us the chance to experience life and all new possibilities.

What can clients expect in their first session with you?

My clients can expect a warm welcome, a genuine smile, an open mind, an attentive ear a non-judgmental atmosphere and a plan(collaborated between us) to empower them to address their circumstances.

What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?

I hope that I will have begun to establish a good rapport so that clients will know if they want to continue on with future sessions. It is my goal to make sure that we are a good fit for one another.

What do you do for fun/on your time off?

I enjoy socializing with family and friends for a night out or game night in. I also enjoy just being a couch potato on some evenings reading a book, listening to music or watching TV.

What’s one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?

I have a good heart and am far from perfect but I strive to live my life with good intention and purpose. My goal is to leave this world having lived my life having utilized all my God given gifts to serve that purpose.
