About Provider

About Tara

Hi, I’m Tara! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in New Jersey and Pennsylvania with over 10 years of experience providing therapy. Through this time, I have gained a lot of experience supporting individuals on their mental health journeys. I am passionate about working with adults who are dealing with anxiety, depression, stress and grief among other things. I am also a Certified Perinatal Mental Health Provider and love supporting parents throughout pregnancy and postpartum.

I pride myself on providing individualized treatment. My belief is that therapy is a collaborative process that the client and therapist navigate together as a team. While my approach is eclectic, I most often utilize techniques based within Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person Centered Therapy and Motivational Interviewing.

Sometimes seeking help can be difficult. Whether you are fully ready to start or even just considering giving therapy a try, I invite you to schedule an appointment. I would be happy to speak with you about therapy, my approach and potential goals we can work towards together!

Get to know Tara

Why did you decide to become a counselor?

I decided to become a counselor because I am very passionate about helping people achieve personal growth that they are seeking.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew?

I would like all clients to know that my virtual therapy room is a safe, judgement free zone and that I believe it takes a lot of strength to seek support in working towards personal goals and mental wellness.

Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?

My main reasons for choosing to practice at Thriveworks are the supportive nature of the company and because the company values employees having a healthy work/life balance. These things promote therapists keeping themselves healthy and in turn being able to provide their best level of care to the individuals that they work with. This is so important!

What can clients expect in their first session with you?

First sessions are meant for information gathering and starting to build the client/therapist relationship. While this is not what our typical therapy sessions will look like, it is important to build rapport and to help me gain an understanding of what you are hoping to get out of therapy so that we can collaboratively build a treatment plan that works best for you.

What do you do for fun/on your time off?

When I am not working, I am spending time with my friends and family including my two dogs, Bleu and Honey. I love being outside and traveling to places that I have never been.
