About Tadd

Hi. I am Tadd Maffucci. I received my Master of Counseling in 2005 and Post Grad certificate in therapy in 2014. I have been working since that time as a therapist. I work with youth, young adults and couples and each group displays different needs. The youth need to connect most with the counselor so I spend time letting them know me. This facilitates the opening of therapy. Adults often wish to download information, which is great. Couples need to feel safe and each person heard.

In therapy I believe that clients have the answers already and just need a guide. Expect homework—therapy happens even when I'm not present. You can expect a loving, kind person who wishes good for you, but at times I will push you beyond what feels comfortable. This is my job and my passion.

If you read all this and are scared, good. I would encourage you to make an initial intake. You can meet me then and get to know me. I am an open book and welcome questions. This is a river but not a torrent, you will be fine and are in good hands. I look forward to meeting you. :)

"You should know entering therapy that it is much like jumping in a river. Scary, pushing your limits, hard work. However you will not be alone when jumping. Ever "

Get to know Tadd

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

I,of course, wanted to help others. I found my way into therapy at a late age and found it to serve both me and clients wonderfully. I get to help clients and the clients get a listening ear, a kind heart, a kindred soul

What types of clients do you work best with?

Those interested in working. Some folks aren't interested in working but just want a person to talk to . This is fine but for change to happen they need to want it.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?

It takes time and work. Healing isn't natural and in our society there are many ways through addiction to mask its work. Face it and move into health.

What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?

They can expect me to ask what is bringing them there to therapy. They can expect me to open up only as I see that they need it. Mostly they should expect support.

What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?

All people are inherently valuable so I must maintain unconditional positive regard for all. The "rules"" of therapy are there for a purpose which is to protect you.

How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?

I listen to them. People give hints as to their needs and what works best for them if you listen.
