About Sandra
Hello. I am Sandra, an LPC licensed in New Jersey with over 25 years of experience in health-related fields. My experience began as a teenaged clerical assistant in a pediatric office, which led me to pursue a BA in Psychology, certification as an EMT, MA in Counseling Psychology, and certification as a School Counselor. These experiences have facilitated assisting a wide range of individuals with a wide range of concerns including stress, anxiety, relationships, health changes, and emotional changes, in both English and Spanish. The individuals I have worked with have sought support to achieve their best self and happiness.
I have learned the best way to provide support is to meet individuals where they are and tailor interventions to them. My therapeutic base is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness, incorporating other modalities to address goals and needs. Progress is personal and may include reaching realizations, developing coping skills, and making changes.
As do all individuals, I too have experienced changes that led me to seek support. Taking that step can raise various emotions. I am here to provide a safe space where you are genuinely seen, heard, and assisted to reach your goals. Counseling with me is a partnering process where we share knowledge and strengths to support you in actualizing your best self.

"Over time, I have realized that we are constantly, and often unconsciously, affected by experiences and changing circumstances, and so I strive to provide an open and safe space to explore and grow from personal experiences to achieve a rewarding life."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I chose to become a counselor as I observed how warmth, professionalism, and evidencebased guidance assisted family members and individuals navigate trying times in the medical, social, and psychiatric fields. As my personal range of experiences grew the importance of valuing individuals and individuality were further cemented.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I have found I work best with clients who are choosing to receive services in that they can commit to attending sessions and prioritize/recognize the value of growth and change. Generally, these clients are 18+.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
I wish everyone knew that they have agency and options regarding therapy, mental health, and the healing process which are very individualized.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
Our first session is focused on getting to know you and as such includes many questions posed to you with room to answer and explain any questions that come up for you as we begin. The early stages of therapy are focused on building trust and confidence to provide safe space to be genuine, vulnerable, and move toward growth through meeting goals and increasing selfawareness.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
Witnessing and experiencing changing circumstances and the effects they have on individuals informs my practice as a provider.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I listen to my client's many ways of communicating while striving to clearly understand, which likely includes many direct and indirect questions and prompts, to determine what intervention/style is most supportive of existing, and possibly, unrecognized strengths.
