About Melanie
I am an LCSW, LCADC, CCS, and SAP with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a minor in Substance Abuse Counseling from Ramapo College of NJ (2012), and a Master's degree in Social Work with a concentration in Substance Abuse Counseling from Rutgers University. I have extensive experience across inpatient, IOP, and PHP levels of care, working with individuals ages 10 through adulthood, and progressed from therapist to Clinical Director. I specialize in the treatment of anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders, mood disorders, and personality disorders, and am committed to providing compassionate, client-centered care.
I utilize a range of evidence-based modalities, primarily Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing. Through compassion, empathy, and collaborative effort, I support individuals in their healing process and am honored to walk alongside them on their journey toward lasting wellness.
Taking the first step toward support can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to do it alone. I strive to create a warm, safe, and supportive space where you feel heard and valued. Healing is possible, and together we can work toward meaningful growth and lasting change at a pace that feels right for you.

"My own experiences with trauma allow me to offer deeper empathy and understanding, and because I know the courage it takes to seek help, I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where every client feels heard, valued, and appreciated."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I chose a career in counseling because of my own firsthand experiences with life’s challenges, which gave me a deep appreciation for the support and guidance I once received. Those experiences continue to inspire my passion for giving back and helping others navigate their own journeys. It is truly meaningful to me to offer the same compassion, understanding, and encouragement that helped me, and to support others in finding hope, healing, and strength.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work effectively with a diverse range of clients, and I am particularly skilled at building trust, rapport, and motivation with those who may initially be hesitant or treatment-resistant. Through patience, empathy, and individualized approaches, I help clients feel understood and empowered to engage in their own healing and growth.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
I wish all clients understood that healing is not a linear process—it can be messy and unpredictable at times. Setbacks are a normal part of the journey and are not failures; they are opportunities to learn, reflect, and grow. Embracing these moments with patience and self-compassion helps foster lasting progress and resilience.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
During our first session, my focus is on getting to know each other and beginning to build a foundation of trust and a strong therapeutic relationship. I practice a person-centered approach, supporting clients in discovering their own answers while providing a nonjudgmental, accepting space where everyone is welcomed and valued.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
I know firsthand what it feels like to be misunderstood, and my goal is to help others avoid that same pain. My work is guided by integrity, honesty, and a strong commitment to ethical practice, ensuring that every client feels respected, heard, and supported throughout their journey.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs by carefully listening to their experiences, goals, and challenges, and then collaboratively developing strategies that fit their individual circumstances. I draw from a variety of evidence-based approaches, adjusting techniques and pace to match each client’s preferences, readiness, and personal strengths, ensuring that the care I provide is both effective and meaningful.
