About Lilah
My name is Lilah Souza. I am a licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and licensed professional counselor (LPC) who works with a variety of different backgrounds including children, teens, young adults, adults, LGBTQ+ individuals, neurodivergent individuals, and so on.
I consider my approach to be warm, empathetic, client-centered, and eclectic. I do CBT, DBT, mindfulness, and expressive arts based therapy with my clients to help them get to a place where they can cope with life's challenges and feel like they're enough.
Reaching out for the first time is always the hardest step. Thank you for taking the time and the courage to reach out and I hope we can work as a team in your mental health journey.

"As a neurodivergent woman of color, I understand the unique challenges of identity exploration and intersectionality. "

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I became a counselor in order to help and better understand people and their behaviors. I wanted to be the person I needed when I was growing up.
What types of clients do you work best with?
Teens, young adults, anxiety, social anxiety, depression.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
Therapy takes time to work and see progress. It's not an overnight fix. It's also a great place to share what you're going through without judgment.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
In the first session, I typically like to get a feel for and get to know the client and their background and what they're looking for before I dive into therapy. I typically start with weekly sessions to built rapport and build consistency, then taper off as needed.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I talk with the client about what they are looking for and what they want out of therapy in the initial session.
