Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I chose to become a counselor because I am an empathic person and I have always cared deeply for others. The opportunity to form connections with others is something that I am always seeking and being a counselor affords me the opportunity to do that each and every day. I find that I have both the honor and the unique privilege of knowing individuals in their most genuine and honest moments.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I am most enthusiastic about each client who is ready to begin or continue their therapeutic journey. I believe that all individuals have the capacity for growth and the ability to build a strong therapeutic relationship.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
Therapists are people, too. We’ll never judge anything that you share with us because it is likely that we’ve been there a few times before.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
During the first session, I want to learn about the client’s life story, their challenges, strengths and anything else that they may want to share. I also would like to determine the things that they hope to achieve as a result of therapy or in other words, establish goals.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
In my free time, you’ll often find me spending time with family and friends, taking walks with my dog, going to concerts, and baking.
