About Kathryn
Kathryn Ashley is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LCSW, LICSW) who has over 35 years of experience providing clinical assessments and therapeutic care for adults with a diverse range of clinical needs, including addiction, depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship issues, and life transitions.
Kathryn completed her Bachelor's degree in Social Work at Niagara University, Niagara Falls NY, and received her Master's degree in Social Work from Yeshiva University-New York. Kathryn utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), strengths-based therapy (SBT), solutions-focused therapy (SFT), and mindfulness approaches.
Kathryn's success lies within her ability to put clients at ease, ensuring their well-being is her focus. She has cultivated relationships with her clients empowering them with greater strength, sensitivity, and perseverance in pursuit of their mental health goals. Get to know Kathryn
Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I have always wanted to help people. Since I was a young girl people always came to me for help with a problem or an issue. I have always been openminded and non-judgmental.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work with all types of clients because of my vast experience. As of late, I have found couples counseling to be both challenging and exhilarating.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
That if they want to get better they can if they are willing to do the work necessary.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I provides me with the opportunity to help a multitude of different individuals with unique issues.
What inspires you?
When a client actually recognizes that they are going to be okay.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
Clients can expect me to open, honest and non-judgmental.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I would like ensure that client the feels safe enough to to explore what some of their treatment goals might be.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
That I am honest, and that am a straight shooter. I would like them to know that I only have their best interest at heart, and that they are the reason I do this work.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I love to cook for my friends and family. I love spending time with my teenaged daughter. I love the beach, movies and having my house full of friends and family most of the time.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I am a deeply loyal person.
