About Jewelya
I earned my Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The College of New Jersey. Through my experience in addiction and mental health treatment, I earned my Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC) credentials. I work with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, family-origin concerns, life stressors, and substance use concerns. I also work with couples and families seeking to improve communication, strengthen relationships, and foster healthier connections.
I take a collaborative, client-centered approach, recognizing you as the expert on your own life. I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing, and attachment- and family systems perspectives to support meaningful, lasting growth.
Reaching out for therapy can be the first step toward creating meaningful change. I would be honored to support you in exploring the changes you hope to make while providing a compassionate, collaborative space to grow. Our first session will focus on understanding your story, identifying your goals, and creating a plan that feels right for you.

"As someone who has grown through lived experiences with anxiety, loss, and addiction within my family system, I am passionate about helping others build resilience through a strong therapeutic relationship and a collaborative, supportive environment."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I decided to become a counselor very young with inspiration from my aunt who is a social worker, but also from the conflict within my own family of origin and dealing with anxiety from a young age. Having support from mental health professionals in my own life instilling confidence in me and finding the resilience within myself was powerful and being the person that can help someone else see their resilience is truly priceless.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with clients that understand that therapy is a collaborative process. As the therapist, I can support you in navigating life's challenges, but I cannot identify or face them for you. I want clients to know that they are strong and are willing to find their strength and resilience and put it to work!
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
I wish all clients knew that the work that is done in therapy is most effective when it is put into action outside of the session. We can learn the skills and process their effectiveness together but you have to build trust in yourself and the environment you create to put the skills to the test outside of the session.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
In our early sessions, we will identify where the distress is coming from and the barriers to navigating these stressors. In the early stages we may focus on family of origin and steps that have already been taken to address the stressors and consider what has worked and what has not worked.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I meet each client's unique needs by spending time getting to understand the client's current environment and early childhood experiences. This allows me to better understand which approaches may work best, and also asking the client what approaches they have responded best to!
