About Jennifer
Jennifer Weiskott is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over 20 years of experience working with adult clients who are dealing with domestic violence, sexual assault, trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, and postpartum depression.
Jennifer received her Master's degree in Social Work from Monmouth University. In sessions, she utilizes cognitive behavior therapy, mindfulness-based therapy, strengths-based therapy, Gestalt therapy, trauma-focused therapy, and empowerment therapy. Jennifer takes on a client-centered approach, focusing on meeting clients wherever they're are at as individuals. She takes great care to create a comfortable therapeutic environment where you'll feel safe expressing your emotions.
Jennifer believes every client has different needs to be met; she seeks to establish a caring and empathetic relationship with you in order to build upon your strengths and abilities. Jennifer will collaborate with you to help you achieve your short and long-term personal goals. Get to know Jennifer
Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I became a counselor because my passion is to help people who are struggling. I feel I’m an empathetic person which I believe helps me to understand what my clients may be going through.
What’s one thing you wish all clients knew?
I wish all clients knew how important coping and self care skills and mindfulness are to help with everyday life stressors.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
My number one reason I chose to work at Thriveworks is to help people who are struggling with emotional issues. I also like that I can make my own schedule and the flexibility of that.
What inspires you?
A lot of things inspire me but the most important thing that inspires me is my husband and children. I also feel gratitude for everything I have that inspires me every day to help those who struggle.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
Clients can expect in their first session is that I will listen intently with empathy and without judgement.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I want to establish rapport with my clients in their first session. I would like to feel that we each made some connections. I would like to find out what their initial issues are.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
Spend time with family and friends, scrapbook, watch the food network, shop.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
That I am a very empathetic person and I am a very good listener.
