Get to know Janelle
Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
In my life I had many encounters where my emotional/mental health wasn’t taken into consideration. I have always been passionate about helping others personally and professionally. To me, being in the field of counseling allows a clinician to develop in their own growth, while also helping others. When it came time to choose a career path, I saw no other role fitting of my skill set.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
I wish all clients knew it's okay to seek MH counseling and that services do not have to be lifelong. Some situations in life may require additional help and that’s okay.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
The flexibility of the company and it being clinician led was enticing. Working for an employer that truly understands the role and importance of therapists.
What inspires you?
The women in my life and I am a self-motivator.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
Clients can expect a welcoming and nonjudgmental person that will listen to their needs and provide empathy every step of the way.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I want to build rapport and reaffirm to the client that they are in a safe space.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I like to spend time with family/friends, exercise, watch anime, and travel.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I am very silly and caring with an infectious laugh.
