About Erica
Erica Woyce is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with over 10 years of experience working with clients of all different ages, most recently with young adults and adults. She focuses on treating those who are suffering from anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, relationship issues, family issues, anger, life transitional difficulties, grief, school and work issues, stress, low self-esteem, and more. Erica can help clients to manage difficult emotions, improve communication in relationships, stabilize their mood, and learn to challenge negative thinking patterns.
Erica earned her Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Kean University. During sessions, she assists clients in developing coping strategies using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT). Erica help clients utilize strategies to challenge negative thoughts, regulate emotions, tolerate distress, and improve relationships. She also helps clients practice mindfulness, grounding, and breathing exercises in sessions. If clients enjoy art, Erica can guide them through activities that allow for the creative expression of emotions and relaxation.
Erica is enthusiastic about helping clients to gain self-awareness and the tools they need to cope effectively with any struggles that they experience. She creates a safe space in which a client can feel comfortable to make the session their own and focus on their goals. She always works as a team with clients and tailors her approach to their unique needs. Erica would be honored to walk with you on your journey toward healing and self-discovery.

"Having had my own experiences with anxiety and the like, I can truly empathize with clients who feel a loss of control or a sense of powerlessness; I am passionate about paying it forward by teaching clients the effective coping mechanisms I have learned and being a calming presence for the client."

Why did you decide to become a counselor?
Having experienced anxiety and the like myself, I wanted to help others improve their coping mechanisms and feel happy again.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best with clients who are motivated to learn and utilize new strategies to help themselves.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I am excited to work with clients who are open to new ideas and perspectives and are ready to try something different to improve their lives.
What’s one thing you wish all clients knew?
Therapists don’t stop seeking strategies for clients after the hour session is over; we continue to do research and find resources for clients outside of sessions. This way, clients get their specific needs taken care of and feel prepared to apply what they learn in therapy to their daily lives.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I believe that Telehealth has opened up new doors, giving clients wider and easier access to mental health services. It is exciting to be able to provide therapy on this platform and reach more people.

I am primarily inspired by my friends and family and by nature and art.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
I will welcome the client to therapy, explaining what to expect and how we can work together as a team to tackle problems and find effective strategies. I will help the client to identify treatment goals that they can work towards one step at a time.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I want to learn what the client is seeking help for and help them identify treatment goals to address the issues they face in their lives.

I am enthusiastic, understanding, creative, and easy to talk to; I truly want to help to the best of my ability, so that clients can feel empowered and inspired to make healthy changes.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I love spending time with family and friends, going to museums, seeing plays/musicals, going to sporting events, traveling, and being in nature (especially at the beach).
