Cassie is attentive and compassionate. She's very good at keeping track of the details of my life, and identifies areas where I could make meaningful changes in my life. She also keeps us on track so we make good use of our time. My experience with Thriveworks and my therapist is excellent - I wouldn't change a thing.

About Cassie
Cassie Repert is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of New Jersey who has over 3 years of valuable experience working one-on-one with adolescents and adults in settings ranging from shelters, transitional housing, and college counseling environments. Cassie completed her Bachelor’s degree in Family Science and Human Development from Montclair State University and went on to earn her Master’s degree in Social Work from Monmouth University soon afterward. Cassie takes a humanistic approach to therapy, understanding that the client is the master of their own life. While cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) are Cassie’s specialties, she pulls from many therapeutic approaches and adjusts based on the need of the client.
Cassie understands that taking the first step and choosing to seek therapy can be frightening and wants to make sure that all her clients feel as safe and as comfortable as possible during each session. She will ensure that you feel in control and leave with lifelong skills to improve your mental wellbeing going forward.

Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I wanted to become a counselor because of personal past experiences with mental health concerns as well as having to watch people in my life go through hardships and not knowing how to help. I wanted to be able to help others who may be experiencing similar hardships and teach them how to cope through it.
What’s one thing you wish all clients knew?
Therapy is work! Some problems can't be resolved in a week or two and that's okay. It can be a process of trial and error and seeing what works best for you.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I chose Thriveworks because of the opportunity to work one on one with individuals seeking mental wellness counseling. As a new social worker, it's cool to be able to work somewhere that's providing affordable counseling services and also offers so much flexibility for clients.
What inspires you?
I have some really inspiring people in my life who I have watched overcome hardships time and time again and come out stronger. The ability of people to be so resilient is incredibly inspiring to me and it never fails to amaze me.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
In a first session, I would want to get to know the client and ask for them to share as much as they feel comfortable sharing about themselves. I would also want to begin defining some goals that the client may want to work towards going forward.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
Some of my favorite things to do include going to the movies, spending time with my family and friends, playing video games, going to the boardwalk, and reading.
What’s one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I think that my care and concern for others is a big defining aspect for me. Even in my personal life, I try my best to care for others as best I can.
