About Barbara

I'm passionate about helping clients build meaningful, lasting change at a pace that feels right for them. As a Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC), I believe therapy should be a collaborative and supportive experience where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered. I work with adolescents and adults navigating challenges such as anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, self-esteem, relationship concerns, and emotional regulation. Whether you're seeking relief from difficult emotions or working toward personal growth, my goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable exploring your experiences without judgment.

My approach is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) while drawing from person-centered and strengths-based principles. I tailor treatment to meet each client's unique needs, values, and goals. Together, we'll identify unhelpful thought patterns, develop practical coping skills, and build on your existing strengths to support lasting change.

Taking the first step toward therapy can feel overwhelming, but you don't have to navigate life's challenges alone. Whether you're beginning therapy for the first time or returning after some time away, I look forward to meeting you where you are and supporting you as you move toward the life you want to create.

Get to know Barbara

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

I became a counselor because I believe everyone deserves a safe space to be heard, understood, and supported without judgment. I’ve always been drawn to understanding people’s stories and helping them recognize the strengths they already possess. My goal is to help clients build confidence, develop practical coping skills, and create meaningful, lasting change at a pace that feels right for them.

What types of clients do you work best with?

I enjoy working with adolescents and adults who are navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, stress, relationship concerns, self-esteem challenges, and emotional regulation. I especially enjoy working with clients who are ready to better understand themselves, develop healthier coping strategies, and create meaningful changes in their lives. Whether someone is starting therapy for the first time or returning after time away, I strive to create a warm, collaborative environment where they feel comfortable growing at their own pace.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?

Healing isn’t about having all the answers or making huge changes overnight. It’s about taking one step at a time, learning more about yourself, and giving yourself permission to grow. Progress isn’t always linear, and that’s okay; every step forward, no matter how small, matters.

What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?

Our first session is a chance for us to get to know one another. I’ll take time to understand what brings you to therapy, learn about your experiences, and discuss what you hope to achieve. There is no pressure to share everything at once. We’ll move at a pace that feels comfortable while beginning to identify goals and create a plan that feels meaningful and realistic for you. My priority is helping you feel safe, heard, and supported from the very beginning.

What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?

My practice is guided by compassion, authenticity, curiosity, and respect for each person’s unique story. I believe meaningful change happens when people feel genuinely seen, heard, and accepted. I strive to create a supportive environment where clients can explore challenges without judgment, build on their strengths, and develop practical skills that promote long-term growth and resilience.

How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?

Every person has a unique story, so I believe therapy should be just as individualized. I take time to understand each client’s experiences, strengths, values, and goals before creating a treatment plan that feels meaningful and realistic. While I often use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I tailor my approach to fit each person’s needs, recognizing that healing isn’t one-sizefits-all. As therapy progresses, we’ll continue to adapt our work together, so it remains supportive, relevant, and aligned with your goals.
