Agnes Kontoh is a Licensed Social Worker with 2 years of experience providing therapeutic services to children, adolescents, adults, and families in various mental health settings. Agnes integrates a trauma-informed and social justice-oriented perspective into her practice, ensuring that each client feels seen, heard, and supported in the context of their lived experience. Agnes has worked with clients navigating depression, trauma, anxiety, substance misuse, and ADHD.
Agnes earned a Master’s in Social Work from Montclair State University. She draws on evidence-based modalities tailored to each client’s unique needs, including cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, trauma-informed care, Christian counselling, strengths-based therapy, solution-focused therapy, and family systems theory.

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
Agnes is inspired to be part of a meaningful change, offering not only emotional support but also advocating for equity in all areas, including mental health. Becoming a therapist allows her to combine her compassion, curiosity, and commitment to social justice in a meaningful and personal way.

I work best with clients who are open-minded and willing to work with me as their therapist

In our first session, you can expect a welcoming and supportive space where we’ll begin getting to know each other. I’ll ask questions to better understand your background, current challenges, and goals for therapy. My goal is to meet you where you are and begin building a foundation of trust and collaboration

What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I enjoy activities that help me stay relaxed and recharge, such as listening to music and reading. I also love learning new things and connecting with loved ones
