Stella Daniel is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor with 2 years of experience in the field. She specializes in helping adolescents and adults with a range of topics such as anxiety, depression, grief, adjusting to change, PTSD, domestic violence, and LGBTQ matters. Stella has worked with college students, families, and veterans to set attainable goals and overcome obstacles by looking at challenges from different angles and empowering clients to use their inherent strengths.
Stella received her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Guilford College. She uses approaches including existential therapy, emotionally-focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and expressive arts.

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
Depending on the nature of symptoms, the opportunity to collaborate with a psychiatrist can be helpful to manage symptoms and improve the communication between professionals which fosters more effective care.
What types of clients do you work with best?
Best results are achieved with clients who have a willingness to take hold of the wheel of their life and who have the openness and courage to change the things they can.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
Individuals who have felt a lack of support from friends and family and are seeking unbiased accountability and validating support are wonderful candidates for a therapeutic partnership.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
She wants all clients to know that what they have or are going through in life is not fair and there is no shame in developing a network of support and resources. They do not have to go through this alone and they deserve the opportunity to improve their methods of self-care and validation.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
The hybrid model of Telehealth and in-office visits and flexibility of the schedule allows counselors the opportunity to create a healthy work-life balance and maintain our mental health so that we can deliver a quality experience to our clients. What inspires you?
People who seek support when they need it are inspirational and show others that there is no shame in asking for guidance.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
In a first session, clients can expect to help the counselor understand what brought them to therapy, what they hope to achieve through the alliance and have an opportunity to learn about the counselors experience and get answers to any questions they may have regarding the process.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
During a first session, it is helpful to gain insight regarding the clients personal needs and preferences and begin building a framework of trust, dependability and safety.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
Clients should know that she will do her best to understand their needs, worldview and preferences and am open to modifying the method or approach as needed and to work as a team throughout the process.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
During downtime, Stella enjoys playing mandolin and violin, caring for her cats, teaching swim lessons and completing functional art projects.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
Stella uses creativity and compassion to help others feel accepted for who they are and shares her light to the best of her ability.
