About Sharika
I am Sharika Bazemore, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 10 years of experience supporting young adults, especially college students, as they navigate mental health challenges and life transitions. I work with clients facing depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, academic stress, and peer relationship struggles. My background includes experience in multiple systemic therapies, outpatient therapy, and school-based counseling. I am passionate about helping clients discover their strengths, move through obstacles, and rise above challenges to create meaningful and lasting change.
I hold a Master’s in Social Work from North Carolina State University. My approach blends evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, and reality therapy, always tailored to meet each individual’s unique needs and goals.
I understand that seeking help can feel overwhelming, but you’re not alone. With a compassionate, non-judgmental approach, I’m here to listen and support you through life’s challenges. If you’re ready to take the first step toward healing and growth, I invite you to reach out today so we can create the change you’re looking for together.

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
She chose to become a counselor driven by her deep desire to help others navigate life’s challenges. Having personally felt unheard and unseen, she’s passionate about supporting others facing similar hurdles. She believes in the transformative power of empathy, listening, and guiding individuals toward a healthier, more empowered version of themselves.
What types of clients do you work with best?
She works best with clients who are ready to explore their inner world, whether they’re struggling with mental health challenges, life transitions, or feeling stuck. She thrives with individuals who are open to self-discovery, eager to build resilience, and committed to making positive changes in their lives, no matter how big or small.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
She wishes all clients knew that it's okay to ask for help and take things one step at a time. Healing and growth are not linear, and it’s perfectly normal to experience setbacks. What's important is that you’re showing up for yourself and willing to do the work, no matter how small the steps may seem.
What inspires you?
Sharika is inspired by the resilience of individuals and their ability to overcome life’s challenges. She finds motivation in witnessing personal growth and transformation, especially when people begin to see their own strength and potential. The moments when clients realize their worth and start to embrace healing are what truly inspire her to continue doing this work.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
Clients can expect a warm, non-judgmental space where they’ll be truly heard. In the first session, she’ll take the time to understand their unique challenges, goals, and any concerns they may have. Together, they’ll begin to explore possible paths forward, with a focus on building trust and laying the groundwork for meaningful progress.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
In the first session, she aims to establish a strong sense of trust and understanding. Her goal is to get a clear picture of the client’s challenges, hopes, and motivations, so they can begin to build a roadmap for growth. She wants to ensure the client feels heard, supported, and comfortable, setting the foundation for a productive and collaborative therapeutic relationship.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
Clients should know that Sharika believes laughter is an important part of healing. She creates an environment where it's okay to laugh through the pain, and not every session has to feel "hard." She values a balanced approach, where clients can feel supported, but also find moments of lightness and joy as they work through their challenges.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
On her time off, Sharika enjoys communing with God, finding peace and reflection in those moments. She loves spending quality time with family, and hanging out with friends.
