About Provider

About Rikki

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in North Carolina with more than 20 years of experience. My goal is to create a therapeutic experience that feels genuine, caring, and safe. I’m passionate about working with adolescents and adults as they navigate life’s challenges and discover new ways to grow and heal. Please note that I provide therapy services, but not psychological assessments.

I use a compassionate, client-centered approach that blends Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness to help clients heal, gain clarity, and build resilience. Together, we focus on self-worth, emotional growth, and practical tools for creating balance and lasting change.

I offer insight into both everyday challenges and major life events that can disrupt your sense of balance. I have worked with older adults and clients facing depression, anxiety, trauma, abuse, life transitions, and domestic violence. My role is simply to help you uncover your strength and overcome life’s challenges.

"As a member of the LGBTQ+ community and a person of faith, I bring a unique perspective to my work as a therapist. My own experiences with anxiety, depression, trauma, and loss have deepened my empathy and understanding of how profoundly life’s challenges can shape us. I believe in the power of healing, growth, and rebuilding — and I’m passionate about helping others rediscover their strength and sense of purpose."

Get to know Rikki

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

I had some very difficult experiences as a child and know that I am the person I am today because of those challenges. When I was in school I had an overwhelming desire to help others in their struggles. I have also experienced difficulties in adulthood related to relationships and sexuality. If I can touch just one person while talking with them about their struggles, it is totally worth it.

What types of clients do you work best with?

I wouldn't say that I have a favorite type of client to work with. I take each session at a time and meet my clients where they are. It is certainly easier when the client is engaged and talkative but I also enjoy building trust with those who have trust issues as well as fostering healing with those that may not be as chatty.

How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?

Everyone's life matters. I believe every person’s story is unique, so I tailor therapy by truly listening and meeting each client where they are. I draw from different approaches — including CBT, ACT, and mindfulness — to fit their personality, goals, and pace. Together, we create a space that feels safe, supportive, and personal to their healing journey.

What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?

The first and early sessions will be a rapport building sessions. I will get to know the client better and on a more personal level. We will explore together the reason they chose to start therapy. I want to hear my client's story. I want to understand where they have been, where they are currently, and ultimately where they want to go. I want to see the big picture of who they are and what they are going through. I want to start building the therapeutic relationship and start establishing trust.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?

I wish all clients knew that healing isn’t about being “fixed” — it’s about growing, understanding yourself, and learning to give yourself grace along the way. Progress may be slow at times, but every step forward matters.

What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?

I grew up in a home marked by domestic violence, addiction, and instability, and those experiences shaped my desire to help others feel seen and supported. I want people to know they are not alone and that they have the strength to change their own lives. As a lesbian woman of faith, I understand the challenges of holding multiple identities and the pain of feeling unloved or unworthy. My goal is to help others rediscover their worth and overcome the social and emotional barriers that stand in the way of healing.
