"As a human being who is doing the best they can and fears asking for assistance, I can relate to the relief when I finally ask for help."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

Mental Health, in the past, was often viewed as less important or misunderstood. I became a clinician to make sure that those who are struggling with their mental health know that there is help out here and it is not new for human beings to struggle mentally, emotionally, socially, and physically.

What types of clients do you work with best?

I work best with clients who like to laugh, or want to find joy. Therapy does not have to be rigid and extremely serious. I work best with clients who I can connect with, and everyone can connect with someone on something. Lastly, I work best with those who like to talk or have not had the experience of being heard because they create a productive environment for themselves to grow and learn.

What type of clients are you most excited to work with?

I am most excited to work with those who've never experienced therapy because they will have the experience of learning what they want from therapy and initiating the personal work needed to be successful.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew?

I wish all clients knew that therapy is not clinician or therapist driven, it is about YOU. In addition to therapy involving conversation, it also involves hard work mentally, emotionally, and even physically. You get out, what you put in.

Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?

Thriveworks is a clinician-driven and operated organization. Being able to continue studying and evolving within the art of therapy makes Thriveworks an integral and necessary part of my career and counseling journey as an associate.

What inspires you?

I am inspired in by God. God instills strength, motivation, and guidance in us every day. There's a purpose within me that inspires me to help others because of Him.

What can clients expect in their first session with you?

In the first session, one should expect to address the purpose of the therapy and clarify goals. It is imperative that we connect and learn about one another, so do not expect to dive all the way in on the primary concerns of why you've made the decision to begin therapy.

What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?

In the first session, I would like to start building a relationship with the individual. I want to complete all the necessary but tedious paperwork and get to work by the second session.

What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?

Before scheduling the first session, one should know that throughout our journey expect me to push you into being uncomfortable, and know that’s when we learn new things about ourselves. At the same time, I will always respect your boundaries and allow myself to be led by your requests or concerns.

What do you do for fun/on your time off?

During my time off I love to stay active and moving. I used to be a college basketball player and love to 'get up and down' the court from time to time. I have a love for nature and prefer to hike or take a nice stroll. I do have part-time jobs that also keep me moving such as refereeing and coaching, so sometimes if I'm 'off work' I may not really be 'off work'.

What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?

One thing that defines me is patience. Patience is a key component in living this life. The ability to wait and have faith in whatever you're waiting for takes confidence and determination.
