About Nathaniel

Sometimes life can feel like you're running on a treadmill—moving constantly but staying in the exact same place. Hard or painful events can be a single, monumental moment or the quiet, cumulative weight of carrying too much for too long. A former colleague once said, "I might not be the one who caused the problems in my life but I'm the one who has to fix them." Therapy works best as a collaborative partnership built on radical compassion, zero judgment, and genuine human connection. I believe everyone possesses an innate capacity to heal, and it would be my privilege to help you rediscover yours.

My practice balances deep empathy with practical, evidence-based techniques. By blending CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, and person-centered, trauma-informed care, we customize sessions to fit your unique needs. I specialize in supporting the LGBTQIA+ community, especially those navigating gender-affirming care, as well as adults with anxiety, depression, and/or trauma.

Healing isn't about erasing your past—it's about changing how the past lives in your present. I would be honored to walk alongside you on your journey. Together, we will create a space where you can move out of survival mode and step into a life rooted in safety, resilience, and genuine peace. Let's figure out how to get you moving again, together.

Get to know Nathaniel

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

I became a therapist in the hopes of transforming my own survival and healing into a roadmap for others.

What types of clients do you work best with?

I most enjoy working with adults 18.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?

Therapy is a lot like the Japanese art of Kintsugi. In Kintsugi, when a piece of pottery shatters, the cracks are not disguised; they are illuminated. They become the most prominent part of the piece. Similarly, therapy should never ask you to pretend your painful life circumstances didn't happen. Healing means acknowledging that the break occurred and recognizing that your history is a permanent, undeniable part of your story. The gold lacquer used to mend the pottery takes time, patience, and meticulous skill to apply. In therapy, that lacquer represents the new life skills and coping mechanisms you build. The gold doesn't erase the fracture; it fills the gaps, binds the pieces back together, and not only makes the structure stable once again, but becomes even stronger. It is the framework that empowers you to function and feel whole after being shattered.

What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?

In the first session and early stages of therapy, clients can expect a safe, collaborative environment focused on understanding their unique experiences and building the trust necessary for healing.

What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?

My practice is shaped by a deep belief in resilience and the human capacity to rebuild after life gets shattered. I come to this work with the lived understanding that personal trauma and profound loss can completely upend your world. I know what it feels like to navigate that heavy, disorienting aftermath, and I know that you cannot simply wish or think your way out of that kind of pain.

How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?

Hardship is universal, but the way we carry it is entirely unique. There is no single, "correct" way to grieve a loss, process a trauma, or navigate a painful life circumstance because none of us enter those experiences with the same history. When life shatters, the pieces scatter differently based on the intersection of who we are and where we come from. Because your hardship is shaped by your unique identity, your healing must be too. I don't expect you to process your pain the same way anyone else would. Therapy is about honoring your specific background and social reality, ensuring that the new life skills we build respect and fit the actual life you live.
