I have been in the "people business" both in corporate America and mental health counseling for a combination of over 20 years. I love working with Black and LGBTQ+ adults dealing with anxiety, stress, trauma, discrimination, racism, workplace/career issues, and relationships. I also work with this population in couples therapy. As a Black therapist, I want my clients to feel a connection in our therapeutic relationship due to some similar life experiences.
My approach is person-centered because I believe the client is the expert about their lives. In couples counseling, I feel love and conflict often go hand in hand. Sometimes having some outside help allows you to see things clearer and get unstuck in the relationship. The first step to seek counseling is courage!
We carry more than we realize. You don't have to have to face life's challenges alone. My goal is to create a safe and nonjudgmental space where you can show up to explore your feelings, and feel supported every step of the way. Together, we can work toward creating the life and relationships you deserve.

"As a Black woman in this country, I understand the challenges of navigating in spaces I am not welcome, carrying the weight of the family and intentionally managing intimate relationships."
Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I decided to become a counselor because I developed a genuine passion for helping people recognize their strengths, overcome challenges, and reach their goals. I truly believe that everyone can benefit from counseling experiences to feel heard, understood, and supported, especially during difficult times in their lives. Throughout my personal and professional experiences, I have seen how emotional well-being affects every aspect of a person's life, including their relationships, careers, self-confidence, and overall quality of life. These experiences inspired me to provide a safe, compassionate, and nonjudgmental environment for individuals to explore their thoughts and feelings. Ultimately, I chose counseling because I believe in the power of human connection, empathy, and helping others create healthier, more fulfilling lives.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I enjoy working with individuals and couples from diverse backgrounds, with a particular passion for supporting Black men and women, LGBTQ+ individuals, and couples of all backgrounds and relationship dynamics. Also, I provide a safe space for those who have experienced racial trauma. With my Human Resources background, I enjoy supporting those working in HR, the stress of a corporate environment and those experiencing discrimination.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
One thing I wish all clients knew is that healing is a journey, not a destination, and you don't have to navigate it alone. Healing takes time, progress isn't always linear, and even the smallest steps forward are worth celebrating. Most importantly, I want every client to know that their story matters, their feelings are valid, and they deserve to be heard, supported, and empowered to live authentically.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
Our first session together will be centered around discussing what brought you to counseling and building a therapeutic relationship. My greatest strength as a therapist is my ability to listen to both: what you say and what you may not be ready to say. In some cases, I will challenge you to think about things differently or see yourself/your situation with greater clarity and know that you will be OK.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
My practice is rooted in my personal, professional and identity experiences, as well as my core values of empathy, compassion, authenticity, and respect for others. Throughout my life and career, I have learned the importance of creating meaningful connections, listening without judgment, and recognizing the unique experiences that shape each individual. As a Black woman, I understand the importance of feeling seen, heard, and understood, particularly when navigating cultural expectations, relationships, life transitions, and the challenges that can come with balancing personal needs and the needs of others. These experiences have strengthened my commitment to providing culturally responsive and inclusive care where individuals from all backgrounds feel safe, valued, and respected. My goal is to build authentic, trusting relationships with my clients and provide a compassionate space where they can explore their emotions, embrace their identities, strengthen their relationships, and move toward healthier, more fulfilling lives.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
Every client brings their own unique story, experiences, cultural background, strengths, and challenges. My approach begins with getting to know you as an individual, understanding what matters most to you. I take a collaborative, client-centered approach to therapy, tailoring our sessions to your specific needs, goals, and personal experiences. Whether you are navigating challenges, transitions, or simply seeking greater self-awareness, we will work together to identify strategies that support your well-being and help you move forward. I also recognize the importance of cultural identity, personal values, and lived experiences in shaping how we view ourselves and the world around us. My goal is to meet you where you are and empower you with the tools you need. Above all, I want you to feel that therapy is a partnership where your voice matters, your experiences are respected, and your healing journey moves at a pace that feels right for you.
