About Provider

About Lucille

I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist, National Certified Counselor, and Certified Clinical Supervisor. I graduated from Wingate University in 1996 earning my Bachelor of Science degree in Human Services. I also graduated from Webster University in 2005, earning my Master of Arts degree in Mental Health Counseling. I work with all ages from 8-88 and all populations. Also, I work with various diagnoses, such as depression, anxiety, mood disorders, addictions, PTSD, etc.

My approach to effective counseling treatment is Person Centered Therapy, which focuses on meeting the individual where they are, developing a rapport, and providing unconditional positive regard. Also, I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with an emphasis on Motivational Interviewing techniques.

When working with potential clients, I carefully tailor my approach to their specific needs, wants, dreams, desires, and outcomes. I provide active listening skills and unconditional positive regard; in other words, I provide a safe, nonjudgmental setting for my clients to feel heard and understood, without the fear of being judged or criticized.

Get to know Lucille

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

I became a mental health counselor by accident. I needed to do an internship for college and started working in a group home with girls and boys, ages 8-18 with severe and profound mental health disorders. My internship lead me to my career path of becoming a Mental Health Counselor. I discovered the passion and compassion that I have within myself to help other people. I am committed and dedicated to working and helping people to reach their dreams, goals, and ideas.

What types of clients do you work best with?

I work best with the broken.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?

I wished that all clients would trust the process of counseling and healing; and know that counseling is very effective in bringing about change.

What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?

First session would include, but not limited to, introduction, history gathering, developing a rapport, and compiling a tentative treatment plan. Early stages of therapy would be a lot of active listening, reflecting, paraphrasing, and solution focus.

How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?

Meet the client where they are at in regards to their mental status and outcome expectations.
