I graduated from Wingate University in 1996 earning my Bachelor of Science degree in Human Services. I also graduated from Webster University in 2005, earning my Master of Arts degree in Mental Health Counseling. I work with all ages from 8-88 and all populations. Also, I work with various diagnoses, such as depression, anxiety, mood disorders, addictions, PTSD, etc.
My approach to effective counseling treatment is Person Centered Therapy, which focuses on meeting the individual where they are, developing a rapport, and providing unconditional positive regard. Also, I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with an emphasis on Motivational Interviewing techniques.
When working with potential clients, I carefully tailor my approach to their specific needs, wants, dreams, desires, and outcomes. I provide active listening skills and unconditional positive regard; in other words, I provide a safe, nonjudgmental setting for my clients to feel heard and understood, without the fear of being judged or criticized.

"As a mental health professional, working in the field for 30+ years, I have learned how to connect with people from various backgrounds, cultures, religions, and all walks of life. Throughout my career as a mental health counselor, I have gained insight and resilience from my experiences."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I became a mental health counselor by accident. I needed to do an internship for college and started working in a group home with girls and boys, ages 8-18 with severe and profound mental health disorders. My internship lead me to my career path of becoming a Mental Health Counselor. I discovered the passion and compassion that I have within myself to help other people. I am committed and dedicated to working and helping people to reach their dreams, goals, and ideas.
