"As a widowed, working mother of 3, I understand the value of time and the importance of individuality when treating clients, along with knowledge that every person's journey and challenges are different. My purpose is to help you facilitate changes to meet your personal and emotional goals. I adjust my therapeutic approach to meet each client where they are in life."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I chose to be a therapist so that I can utilize my skills to help others achieve their goals, in a non-judgmental, person-centered format.
What types of clients do you work with best?
Therapy is most effective when the client is ready to improve, and realizes that they need the motivation to implement change. I work with adolescents and adults, from diverse populations, to focus on their goals and self-improvement.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I am excited to work with motivated clients, who are ready to make positive changes in their lives.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
Healing is not linear, and a bad day or event does not mean that therapy is not effective. It is also important to note that a therapist cannot "fix" your problems or concerns, though a therapist can facilitate your own personal growth, provide tools, and offer new perspectives.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I chose to work with Thriveworks because the company aligns with my own ethical and person-centered beliefs. Thriveworks allows therapists and clients to formulate treatment that is best for the client. Thriveworks also values self-care and work/life balance for the therapists.
What inspires you?
I am inspired by people who recognize that life has hurdles, which can all be overcome, and they are ready to put in the necessary work to meet their goals.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
The initial session will involve a comprehensive assessment, diagnostics, and discussion of what encouraged you to engage in therapy. This is not an interrogation, as it is a conversation of your history, current situation, and goals. The first several sessions are used to build your treatment plan/goals, and to get to know each other. Clients are always encouraged to ask questions and share their thoughts.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
The first session is all about getting to know you, your lifestyle, your feelings, and your goals. I will be asking questions, though always encourage you to share what needs to be shared and to ask questions as they arise. We will also discuss diagnoses, frequency of your sessions, and schedule future appointments.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
I incorporate more than talk therapy into treatment. I utilize games, videos, apps, music, worksheets, and even art, in order to help you to recognize and change your negative thoughts and patterns.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
Spend time with family and friends, attend concerts, travel, read, and relax
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I have a unique perspective when looking at situations. I am also very straight-forward and direct.
