Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I have a passion for helping people. Every day I consider it a blessing for people to trust me to listen to them and help them through a difficult situation.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work with all types of clients. Every new client provides me with a new opportunity to be a better counselor than I was yesterday.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I have found that clients that know there is an issue in their life but are having a challenging time dealing with it are most exciting for me. For a client to recognize they have an issue informs me that they are wanting a change in their life and are seeking the right tools to make that change.
What’s one thing you wish all clients knew?
Clients need to understand that change doesn’t happen overnight but occurs because of a gradual process; also, that they are in control of that process.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I choose Thriveworks for their availability and flexibility. There are so many people who would like to seek therapy but their schedule during regular office hours makes it not feasible. Thriveworks makes this possible for these clients.
What inspires you?
Believing in something that seems hopeless. People who survive and never quit no matter how daunting the situation may look, they still believe and push through in the midst of it.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
Clients can expect a welcoming and non-judgement environment. Clients can expect a calming atmosphere where they can lower their guard.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I would like to start to build a rapport with an individual. I want the individual to feel safe and free to be able to express themselves openly without any reservation.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
I would like clients to know that I am here to listen and collaborate with them in finding the tools they need to function successfully in their day-to-day life.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I enjoy reading and spending time with my family.
What’s one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
My faith defines me. I know without faith nothing is possible but with it anything is possible because I believe. Having faith, knowing that you may be in a dark place, but the sun will shine in the morning. Faith knowing that the hard times are only temporary, and you will win despite what it may look like at this present moment.
