Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
We live in a complex society that impacts each of our lives. Often times seeking help is difficult, it means stepping outside of your comfort zone and being vulnerable. I became a counselor to help those who have been traditionally reluctant to seek care or have felt powerless. There is always a solution to any problem.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best either with adults and couples.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
Couples and Adults.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
Never be afraid to make mistakes.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I was drawn to the philosophy of Thriveworks. I love the concept of transitioning from therapy to coaching. That gives a broader perspective on how a counselor can impact a client.
What inspires you?
Having gone through many obstacles as a woman of color, I feel my educational, professional, and unique experiences inspires me to help others.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
They can expect to be welcomed and made to feel safe. They can also expect that I will give them my best.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I would like to make introductions, learn about them, provide them with general housekeeping information, educate them on expectations to be successful in therapy, assess what brought them to therapy, and work to start identifying specific client centered goals.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
I will be prompt and engaging. I will work to get them scheduled when they want to be seen based on my availability.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I spend quality time with family.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I am a natural helper and a good listener. People, family, friends, neighbors all bring their concerns to me even if I can't solve them.
