I’m Dr. Fulivia Cannady, also known as Dr. Liv, a licensed mental health professional with over 15 years of experience providing compassionate, evidence-based care.
I use an integrated, strength-based, solution-focused, and person-centered approach, incorporating CBT, DBT, TF-CBT, and ACT. I believe in meeting clients where they are, helping them develop healthier perspectives, effective coping skills, and practical tools for emotional wellness and problem-solving.
I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults from diverse backgrounds, supporting individuals navigating mental health concerns, trauma, relationships, and substance use. My professional experience includes community mental health, intensive outpatient, acute care, partial hospitalization, and private practice settings.

"As a therapist, I believe that positive change and growth begins when we feel seen, heard, and supported, and that with the right tools, guidance, and perspective, we can build resilience, navigate life’s challenges, and create meaningful change."
Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I decided to become a clinician because I am passionate about helping people navigate life's challenges, understand themselves, and recognize their potential for growth and healing. I believe everyone deserves to feel heard, supported, and empowered with the tools needed to improve their mental and emotional wellbeing. Being able to help others develop healthier perspectives, build resilience, and create meaningful change is what makes this profession so rewarding to me.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work well with clients who are open to exploring their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, as well as those who may feel overwhelmed, stuck, or uncertain about where to begin. I support individuals navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, life transitions, and substance use concerns. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and nonjudgmental. I meet clients where they are, helping them identify their strengths, develop effective coping skills, gain healthier perspectives, and build practical strategies for lasting change. Whether you are beginning your healing journey or working toward personal growth, I strive to create a supportive space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
I wish all clients knew that healing is not a linear process, and progress does not require perfection. You can experience setbacks and still be moving forward. Give yourself grace, be patient with yourself, and remember that growth takes time, practice, and a willingness to do things differently. Therapy is not about changing who you are; it is about understanding yourself, recognizing your strengths, developing healthier coping skills, and learning new ways to navigate life's challenges. You do not have to have everything figured out to begin your journey. Small steps matter, and you deserve the same compassion and understanding you so freely give to others.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
Clients can expect a welcoming, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where they feel heard, respected, and comfortable being themselves. During the first session, we will discuss your concerns, goals, personal experiences, and what you hope to gain from therapy. I understand that opening up can feel uncomfortable, so we will move at a pace that feels right for you. In the early stages of therapy, we will work collaboratively to identify patterns, explore challenges, recognize strengths, and develop practical coping skills. My approach is personcentered, strength-based, and solution-focused, incorporating evidencebased techniques tailored to your individual needs. My goal is to help you gain insight, build confidence, develop healthier perspectives, and feel empowered to make meaningful changes in your life.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
My practice is guided by the values of compassion, empathy, respect, and the belief that every individual has the capacity for growth and change. My years of clinical experience have taught me the importance of meeting clients where they are, recognizing their unique experiences, and creating a safe space where they feel heard and understood. I believe that self-awareness, healthier perspectives, effective coping skills, and practical tools can empower individuals to navigate challenges and improve their quality of life. I value a collaborative, strengthbased approach that honors each client's journey without judgment. My goal is not simply to help clients manage their struggles, but to empower them to recognize their strengths, build resilience, establish healthier patterns, and develop the confidence to create meaningful, lasting change.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I tailor therapy to each client's individual needs, experiences, strengths, goals, and readiness for change. I use an integrated approach that incorporates evidencebased techniques, including CBT, DBT, TFCBT, and ACT, while maintaining a personcentered, strength-based, and solution-focused perspective. I believe in meeting clients where they are, recognizing that everyone processes experiences and navigates challenges differently. Together, we identify concerns, explore patterns, develop healthier perspectives, and practice practical coping and problem-solving skills. I adjust interventions as needed to support each client's progress, ensuring therapy remains collaborative, meaningful, and relevant to their everyday lives. My goal is to empower clients with the insight, confidence, and tools they need to manage challenges, build resilience, and create lasting, positive change.
