About Provider

About Vivian

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Missouri with 33 years of experience. My work has included serving as a college professor of counseling and providing therapy to individuals, couples, and families. I specialize in multicultural counseling and have supported clients facing depression, anxiety, self-esteem challenges, relationship struggles, and communication issues.

I earned my Doctorate in Counselor Education and Marriage and Family Therapy from St. Louis University and a Master’s in General Counseling from the University of Missouri–St. Louis. My approach integrates client-centered, cognitive, and behavioral therapies while tailoring care to meet the needs of children, adolescents, couples, and families.

I aim to provide a supportive space where clients feel heard, valued, and empowered to create meaningful change. I bring optimism and hope, helping individuals and couples explore challenges with clarity and compassion. My goal is to validate each person’s experiences and walk alongside them as they work toward improved well-being.

Get to know Vivian

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

I decided to become a counselor out of my desire to help others and my ability to listen intently to people's needs and respond to those needs. I wanted to merge my background and my interest in other communities and be a benefit to society.

What types of clients do you work best with?

I like working with couples and individual with personal growth issues like poor self-esteem and imposter syndrome.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?

I wish all clients knew that therapy is a tool for them to learn to solve their issues and is nothing to be afraid of.

What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?

The first session is for assessment and an opportunity of us to get to know each other and determine if we make a good match before getting into the therapeutic process.

What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?

Being a woman of color and a seasoned therapist, I bring wisdom, education, culturally sensitivity and a Christian perspective to the practice.

How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?

I tailor therapy to meet the needs of each client based upon what I discover in the assessment process and match interventions and strategies to those specific needs
