I earned my Master of Education in Counseling and Development from Lamar University and have spent my career helping individuals find their footing through various life challenges. I typically work with adults facing major life transitions, professional burnout, or persistent struggles with anxiety and depression. My clients are often looking for a way to regain their sense of agency and are motivated to achieve goals of emotional stability, personal resilience, and a more authentic, fulfilling daily life.
I utilize an integrative approach rooted in cognitive behavioral therapy and person-centered techniques to help you identify and shift the patterns that keep you stuck. Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I decided to become a counselor because I grew up witnessing my mother’s courageous battles with mental health, which gave me a profound, firsthand understanding of how deeply these struggles impact both the individual and the family. Seeing her navigate those challenges ignited a lifelong passion in me to provide the kind of empathetic, professional support that can make a difference in someone’s darkest moments. I wanted to turn that personal experience into a professional mission: creating a space where people feel truly seen and supported as they work through their own hurdles, ensuring that no one has to walk the path to healing alone.
What types of clients do you work best with?
Adults, Male, Female, Seniors.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
I wish all clients knew that healing is rarely a straight line; it is a nonlinear process that requires immense patience and selfcompassion. There will be days of breakthrough and days that feel like setbacks, but those difficult moments aren't a sign of failure—they are often where the most significant growth is taking root. Therapy isn't just about "fixing" what is broken, but about building a deeper, kinder relationship with yourself as you navigate the complexities of being human.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
In our first session, our primary goal is to determine your needs and build a comfortable, trusting connection. You can expect a collaborative conversation where we explore what brings you to therapy, discuss your history, and discuss a treatment plan that aligns with your goals. We will also address the practicalities of our work together, including scheduling and establishing a consistent rhythm for our sessions. In the early stages of therapy, we will focus on identifying the specific patterns or obstacles impacting your wellbeing. We’ll spend time establishing a clear path forward, blending empathetic exploration with the introduction of practical tools. My aim during these initial meetings is to provide you with a sense of clarity and a personalized roadmap, so you feel empowered and supported as we begin the deeper work of healing and growth.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
My practice is deeply informed by the value of empathy born from experience and a commitment to holistic, person-centered care. Having navigated the complexities of family mental health challenges, I place a high value on the dignity of every individual's story and the importance of resilience. I believe that therapy is most effective when it is a collaborative partnership, rooted in the core values of authenticity, nonjudgment, and empowerment. These experiences have taught me that while we cannot always control life's transitions, we can cultivate the internal strength and practical tools necessary to face them with grace and clarity.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I tailor therapy by recognizing that you are the expert on your own life, which is why I prioritize a collaborative and flexible approach. Rather than using a "one size fits all" model, I integrate various evidence-based techniques—such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for shifting thought patterns and Person-Centered strategies for emotional processing—based specifically on your goals and personality. I continuously assess our progress and invite your feedback to ensure our sessions remain relevant to your evolving needs. Whether you require practical, goal-oriented strategies for immediate relief or a deeper, more exploratory space to process long-standing challenges, I adjust my style to provide the right balance of support and empowerment for your unique journey.
