About Marcy
Marcy West is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with 30 years of experience in the mental health, substance abuse, and medical social work professions. Marcy has vast experience treating a variety of age groups and concerns. She provides treatment to those encountering issues with depression/anxiety, relationships, mood disorders, substance abuse, mental stress, grief, and anger, which impact overall functioning. She also enjoys teaching stress reduction methods such as meditation techniques and progressive muscle relaxation.
Marcy completed her Master of Social Work (MSW) at Grand Valley State University. Marcy’s approach is client-centered, strength-based, and solution-focused. She utilizes various therapeutic modalities, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused therapy.
We all go through difficult times in our lives and make mistakes, but this does not have to define us. Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I knew since the age of 10 I wanted to help others. I have always had an innate desire to be a part of others journey in this world.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I am excited working with clients that are interested in energy, meditation and motivated towards self-growth.
What’s one thing you wish all clients knew?
How special they truly are.

What can clients expect in their first session with you?
To establish a connection. Complete an assessment and goal setting for healing.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
Identify reason/goals for seeking counseling, identify strengths and just to connect.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I enjoy being with family, trying new recipes (sometimes it's a flop), and arts and crafts.
