About Javier
I specialize in using Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients navigate anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, relationship challenges, and life transitions.
My approach is collaborative and practical, blending evidence-based strategies with genuine connection. Together, we will build skills to manage distress, shift unhelpful thought patterns, and create meaningful, lasting change.
I believe therapy should be a space where you don’t have to shrink or codeswitch—where your identity is affirmed and your voice matters. Whether you're working through daily stressors or deeper emotional wounds, I aim to support you with empathy, honesty, and tools you can actually use in your everyday life.

"I am a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) committed to providing compassionate, culturally responsive care that honors the full complexity of your lived experience."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
What drew me to this field is the opportunity to build meaningful relationships and support people as they navigate stress, anxiety, trauma, life transitions, or other mental health concerns. It's rewarding to see someone gain confidence, develop healthier coping skills, and move toward the life they want. Every person has a unique story, and I value being able to meet people where they are and help them find a path forward.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with teens and young adults who are navigating life transitions and trying to make sense of the changes and pressures that come with this stage of life. This often includes challenges related to anxiety, depression, stress, identity, school or career decisions, and adjusting to new responsibilities or expectations.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
One thing I wish all clients knew is that healing isn't a straight line. There will be times when it feels like you're making a lot of progress, and other times when it feels like you're right back where you started. That doesn't mean therapy isn't working. Growth often happens in small, gradual ways that aren't always easy to notice at first.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
In the first session, my main goal is to get to know you and understand what brought you to therapy. We'll talk about what's been going on in your life, any concerns or challenges you're facing, and what you're hoping to get out of therapy. I'll also ask some questions about your background so I can get a better picture of your experiences, but there's no pressure to share everything at once.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
Some of my values as a therapist come from my own experiences with life's challenges. Like many people, I've gone through difficult seasons that have shaped how I see myself and the world. Those experiences taught me the importance of resilience, self-compassion, and having someone who genuinely listens without judgment.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I believe there isn't a onesize-fits-all approach to therapy because every person comes with their own experiences, strengths, challenges, and goals. I take the time to get to know each client and work collaboratively to create a treatment approach that fits their individual needs and preferences.
