Get to know Arlene
Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I have my own mental health struggles and I know that seeking help is what helped me and what brought me to this field. I just want to be able to help others manage and grow as well.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best with clients who have a trauma.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I enjoy working with everyone... I really do.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
Therapy is not as scary as it may seem at times.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I enjoy working with many different populations and Thriveworks offers that and does it in a convenient way for clients.
What inspires you?
I want people to be the best versions of themselves, whatever that looks like. Watching people change and grow, that is what inspires me.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
In the first session there will be some administrative tasks, but the goal is to learn about you and start working on building the therapeutic relationship.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I want to spend some time getting to know you, what brings you here, let you get to know me some that way therapy doesn't have to feel hard or as scary as it might feel.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
I will meet you where you are, not everyone's journey is the same. I approach therapy in the way that I can then assist you with reaching your goals.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I like to read, put together Legos, spend time with my pets and my family.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
