Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I have always had a strong interest in understanding and helping people. I want to make a difference in the world and find meaning in this work.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best with clients who want to learn more about themselves and practice different coping skills and techniques. I enjoy working with clients who are struggling with some complex problems and are seeking to be understood and validated.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I am most excited to work with clients who want to gain greater understanding and self-awareness.
What’s one thing you wish all clients knew?
Going to therapy is courageous. That first step is progress in itself.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I wanted to work with an agency that has a good reputation for wanting to provide quality services to help as many people as possible.
What inspires you?
I am inspired by being mindful and present in the world around me and noticing the joy in the little things. I can feel inspired by watching the leaves fall or noticing a sun ray coming through the window. It reminds me of my own vitality and that I am a part of this larger world.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
Clients can expect me to be curious about them and for me to have a strong desire to help them find their way. Also, a desire to provide a safe place where their preferences are the priority.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I think the first session is for gaining some clarity about the presenting concern but also to determine if I am a good fit as the professional. I think the client knows best if they would like to move forward, and if not, my goal is to help them get connected with what they need.
What’s one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I am very loyal and value perseverance.
