Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I decided to become a counselor after working in the mental health field as a community-based mental health rehabilitation technician. I felt that I could do more for people if I had more resources to do so, and therefore began my journey.
What types of clients do you work with best?
Those that want to put the work into changing their lives for the better; this isn't my journey, it's yours - I'm just along for the ride to guide you and show you your potential.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
Any and all comers are welcome - I work well with a variety of ages and backgrounds.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
That you have far more potential than you realize you have.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I wanted to get back into working with a wider range of populations, and assist those that are in need, no matter their background. All are welcome.
What inspires you?
People that confront their fear of the unknown.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
A basic background about myself, as well as trying to ascertain where they are in their own personal journey - whether they're a newcomer to therapy or have been to therapy before.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I'd like to get to know a person's learning styles, as well as what works for them and what doesn't as far as therapy goes. Building rapport is also a must.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
I'm pretty 'go with the flow' - I like to make my clients feel comfortable working with me.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I play video games, but am looking to become more active (particularly when it starts cooling down!)
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I have a great sense of humor.
