About Shelia
Shelia Lipscomb is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) who has more than 2 years of experience working with teens, adults, and seniors who are suffering the effects of anxiety, anger, depression, ADHD, chronic stress, relationship issues, family conflict, academic issues, behavioral disorders, and more.
Shelia completed her Bachelor's degree in Sociology and her Master's degree in Counseling Psychology (Adlerian) from Bowie State University and utilizes a holistic and collaborative approach to counseling, including modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), reality therapy, person-centered and existential approaches.
Shelia has the innate ability to make people feel comfortable and welcoming and offers an opportunity to help bring change and balance into your life. She will assist individuals to find their potential while exploring meaningful ways to help solve problems.

Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I have been intrigued by human behavior and getting a sense of satisfaction from helping, encouraging and moving people in the right direction.
What types of clients do you work with best?
There is no particular client that is favored over another.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
Young adults, and couples

That they are powerful and fearless

Why did you decide to become a counselor?
My decision to become a counselor was based on the way people respond to my positivity and willingness to listen, inspire and motivate. Additionally, to help individuals gain a sense of meaning and purpose.
What types of clients do you work with best?
The clients I work with best are those that are willing and ready for change and gain insights that can promote good mental health. I work well with most clients who are committed to personal betterment.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
Clients who have a zest for knowledge, insight, fun, entertaining and expressive. A client who is motivated and open minded.
What’s one thing you wish all clients knew?
I wish clients knew that it's ok to pause and think and understand that we do not have to be more or less of anything to be worthy, we exist and that's enough.

I am inspired by my ability to motivate others, creativity, learning new things, and the feeling of purpose.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
Clients can expect good eye contact, warmth, active listening, and the feeling of purpose as well as what is to be expected during therapy.

Their goals for therapy and a good rapport
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
The following activities are part of what I love to do: crafting, community service, shopping, being with my social network socializing.
