About Mariam
I am a licensed clinical professional counselor (LCPC) with 5 years of experience supporting adults navigating anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, life transitions, and emotional challenges. I provide a thoughtful, insight-oriented approach to therapy and believe that meaningful change begins with understanding the deeper roots of your struggles. I am committed to creating a safe, supportive space where you feel heard and respected.
I earned my master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Northwestern University, where I received training in psychodynamic psychotherapy and psychoanalysis. I draw from multiple evidence-based approaches and tailor treatment to each client’s unique needs, allowing therapy to unfold in a way that feels authentic and effective.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed or isolated, you don’t have to face it alone. I offer an engaged, compassionate, and collaborative environment where we can explore challenges together and work toward clarity, relief, and lasting growth. I look forward to supporting you on your journey.

"A fundamental aspect of our humanity is our need for unconditional positive regard, understanding, acceptance, and presence from one another."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
In the mid-1980s, I often accompanied my parent to their individual therapy sessions. The idea that simply talking to someone could help you feel better felt almost magical—life-changing in a quiet but powerful way. I knew then that I wanted to be part of that kind of healing, not only to improve an individual’s life, but to strengthen and transform entire families.
What types of clients do you work best with?
Clients who choose to fully show up for themselves are the most rewarding to work with. Everything beyond that is simply icing on the cake.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
An authentic, trusting relationship between you and your therapist is not just the base, but the most powerful tool in the therapeutic process.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
Taking the time to understand your goals and needs, while also clarifying what therapy is—and isn’t—so we can begin our work together with shared expectations and a clear, mutual understanding.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
Creativity, patience, open-mindedness and unconditional positive regard.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I only apply what applies to the person in front of me. That is not possible unless I know who that person is.
