About Provider

About Lewis

I am a licensed certified social worker-clinical (LCSW-C) with 22 years of experience providing therapy across a wide range of clinical settings. I have worked with abused and neglected children, individuals experiencing homelessness, crisis intervention teams, and clients seeking faith-based counseling. My work spans individuals, couples, and families, with a strong focus on helping clients navigate trauma, life stressors, and emotional challenges.

I earned my Master of Social Work from the University of Maryland. My orientation is grounded in psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral theory, and I utilize solution-focused and reality therapy approaches. In cases involving trauma or abuse, I incorporate ego-strengthening techniques to support resilience, healthy adaptation, and emotional functioning.

Clients often respond well to my practical, evidence-based approach to therapy. I strive to provide competent, thoughtful care tailored to your unique needs and goals. If you are seeking a clinician who values collaboration, insight, and meaningful progress, I look forward to supporting you on your therapeutic journey.

Get to know Lewis

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

I decided to enter the "Helping Profession" as I experienced trauma and hardships personally. Therefore, I have the ability to relate to the Patients I serve have a great deal of professional reward when I witness the healing process.

What types of clients do you work best with?

I work best with couples and individuals 11-65 years of age.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?

The road looks long, but the work you do is very satisfying and worth the effort.

What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?

Patient can expect to be heard for the first part of the session. The following sessions will be building a therapeutic alliance to achieve identified goals.

What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?

I have worked with a variety of individuals at varying stages of difficulty. Having Public and Private clinical experience affords me the ability directly interact with the Patient where they are no matter how ridged or frail the person's condition is at the beginning.

How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?

The Patient's needs and treatment goals guide the clinical work. If the patient has serve trauma, a complete understanding of the trauma will be required to develop an effective treatment plan. In turn, with ADHD patients, learning their triggers and how they self regulate will be paramount to effective treatment.
