Get to know Ian

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

I chose to become a therapist because I have family members experiencing mental illness and feel passionate about helping others.

What types of clients do you work best with?

Adolescents and Adults.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?

The healing process takes time and commitment as well as great rewards.

What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?

The first session includes building the therapeutic relationship and exploring clients' presenting issues. The early stages of therapy include understanding symptoms and diagnoses and learning new coping mechanisms for change.

What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?

My own experience with family members struggling with mental illness has built great empathy for helping the clients that I work with in therapy.

How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?

I treat clients as unique individuals with unique mental health struggles and I am intuitive in choosing skills and interventions to help them reach their therapy goals.
