About Brad
I am a licensed Social Worker (LMSW) in Maryland and I graduated from Salisbury University. I have experience working with people of all ages, with different cultural backgrounds, and experiencing various mental health challenges. Much of my experience comes from working with adults recovering from addictions and I am very knowledgeable about different recovery programs. I have worked with youth (ages 5-17) from traditionally under-served communities and I have worked in hospital-based crisis-intervention services. I am happy to offer a safe space for people of all identities and I proudly identify myself as a 2SLGBTQIA+ ally.
I often utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques (CBT) such as analyzing cognitive distortions that are creating distress for my clients. I also am very enthusiastic about Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) including the modalities of deep-breathing techniques and mindfulness/meditation to help my clients learn how to regulate their emotions.
I strongly believe in approaching life from the perspective of "one day at a time" and striving for acceptance of whatever life throws our way. My deep sense of empathy enables me to "put myself in another person's shoes" and thoroughly identify with my clients' struggles and difficult feelings they are experiencing.

"My passion in life is to help others with whatever difficulties they are facing, whether that be psychiatric troubles, ordinary life stressors or addictions."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I decided to become a therapist because I realized that I have always enjoyed helping others. Also, I was especially interested in helping people with their psychiatric difficulties and any addictions they might have.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with clients of all ages who are enthusiastic about using the self-knowledge they gain from our therapy sessions to improve themselves and find solutions to whatever problems they are experiencing. However, one of my primary goals is to promote enthusiasm and hope in all of my clients to help them make the most of what they learn from their therapy sessions.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
I wish all clients knew that it takes time for change to happen. Just like when going on a diet or starting to exercise, it takes some time for noticeable change and improvement to occur in one's mental health.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
My goal in the first few sessions is mostly to build therapeutic rapport and understanding with a new client. I strive to provide an atmosphere of openness, warmth and non-judgement where a new client can feel entirely comfortable sharing sharing their story and concerns with me.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
A natural strength of mine is being able to actively listen to another person, allowing them to express their thoughts without interruption. Another strength is my deep sense of compassion and empathy that allows me to identify with my clients' life experiences and struggles. Also, I have direct personal experience with addiction and recovery that gives me great insight and a strong base of knowledge which I can draw upon to help clients overcome addiction and maintain their recovery.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I tailor therapy for each individual client by focusing on identifying their strengths and finding specific solutions they can implement to address their difficulties in life.
