About Amanda
Amanda Valltos is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over 5 years of experience, primarily working with children and adolescents. Amanda utilizes problem solving, emotional expression and mindfulness as techniques to support her clients.
Amanda has a reputation for building strong relationships based on a foundation of genuine respect, trust, and communication. Her ability to break through message barriers and uncertainties is based on a working collaboration with clients, their family and in the school if applicable. She looks forward to addressing your therapeutic needs and goals as a team.

"As an adolescent, I did not fit the mold of the typical teenager—so I understand the struggles that many children and teenagers face."

Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I have always been an individual who has wanted to help others and give back. As far back as I can remember, continuing through college, I’ve always stepped up to help a teacher, parent, or fellow student. This helping attitude has morphed into helping people, through mental health therapy.
What types of clients do you work with best?
Children, pre-teen, and teenagers
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
Intervention and therapy sometimes take a long-term commitment to heal, and they have to do their part, along with my committed support.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
While I am very happy with the size of my current client base a small business has offered me, at this time in my career I am looking for the personal and professional growth potential Thriveworks offers.
What inspires you?
I get my inspiration from my family, life’s experiences, and the desire to help others, especially kids and teenagers.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
From me, my clients can expect a thorough introduction of myself. They can expect a general idea of how our future sessions will work and how I plan to work with them. I will also let them know before they leave that I will always be a safe place for them.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I want to have enough two-way dialogue for the individual to get a general understanding of who I am and who they are.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
I am a kid at heart, and I haven’t forgotten what it’s like to be their age along with the challenges they face and will experience.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
Bake, read, walk, watch movies, and spend time with my family.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I always try to do the right thing and consider others with everything I do.
