About Yolanda
Yolanda Jones is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in the state of North Carolina who has 21 years of experience working with children and adolescents with attention deficit disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and autism spectrum disorder.
Yolanda completed her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and received her Master of Arts in Professional Counseling and Master of Education in School Counseling from Liberty University. Yolanda utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to best meet the needs of every individual. She seeks to establish a warm and caring relationship with children, adolescents, and adults in order to assist them in building on their strengths and collaborate with them towards meeting their goals.

Why did you decide to become a counselor?
As a child, I remember wanting to be able to help others. As I got older my passion continued to grow. I am now a school counselor and a mental health therapist.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best with children and adolescents.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I look forward to working with all clients, especially individuals who have a desire to participate in therapy.
What’s one thing you wish all clients knew?
Therapy requires active participation.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
Thriveworks allows me to provide telehealth on the weekends. This is what I needed due to my schedule.
What inspires you?
I'm inspired by growth.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
Clients can expect the first session to focus on identifying the problem and establishing rapport.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I want an individual to feel comfortable with me to be able to share what they are experiencing.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I crochet, knit, run, and read when I have free time. I'm a school counselor when I'm not working with Thriveworks.
What’s one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I would say my faith defines me. It is the foundation of everything that I do.
