Toni Vegiard is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) with 6 years of experience in the mental health field. She is passionate about helping adolescents and adults address their unique challenges and live a more fulfilled life. Toni specializes in depression, anxiety, major life transitions, grief, and trauma work. Toni has a background working in intensive juvenile services, residential, and outpatient facilities.
Toni completed her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at William James College in Newton, Massachusetts. Toni utilizes multiple treatment approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and solution-focused therapy.

Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I always knew helping others was going to always be my life path. I've always been passionate about being that ear to listen and that "shoulder to cry on". I wanted to become a counselor as soon as I learned there was a way to be that person as a career and have not looked back since.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I am passionate about working with adolescents and adults.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
Those with an open mind and heart.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
Slowing down is a part of being productive.

I chose to practice at Thriveworks because I align well with the values.
What inspires you?
The feeling of excitement or joy I feel for clients when they accomplish something important to them.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
Sometimes first sessions can come off as daunting so I try to make them as comfortable as possible.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
During an individual's first session, I like to start building a relationship, have an understanding of the expectations of therapy and set goals that align with what the individual wants.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
I enjoy working with clients who are motivated for change.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I like to hike, play volleyball, crochet and spend time with my loved ones.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I like to make others around me feel good, safe and at home.
