About Sarah
My name is Sarah Murphy, and I have worked in the mental health field for three years now. I primarily work with folks who deal with anxiety, depression, life adjustments, interpersonal relationships, and self-esteem. I have a history working in both community mental health and partial hospitalization programs, helping clients build resilience and develop sustainable ways to manage stress.
I use a variety of methods in my therapy sessions, such as CBT, DBT, expressive therapies, and coherence therapy to support clients in building on their strengths and working on sustainable ways to manage life's stressors. I focus on past patterns, and how they may inform how you behave now, and work from there.
I try to bring humor and empathy to my sessions, and I fully welcome anything and everything you may bring. I am looking forward to collaborating and making therapy a space for you to freely express yourself!

"I believe in working collaboratively with my clients, meeting them where they are and utilizing strengths to explore solutions."
Get to know Sarah
Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
Surrounded by educators growing up, I believed and witnessed the value of helping others from a young age. I came to counseling after doing my own work in therapy and seeing how it benefits others.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I enjoy clients willing to try anything and open to trying new things.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I like to work with people's strengths and skills and build on those to develop sustainable ways to manage stress.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
Generally, the first session involves you getting to know me and me getting to know you! We review boundaries and figure out goals and what you would like to work on in therapy.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
Therapy is not as scary as people make it out to be, I am literally just a person trying their best, just like you.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
I have always valued humor and creativity and try to bring that into the therapy space.
