About McKenzie
McKenzie Reed is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) with over 11 years of experience in the social work and human services field. McKenzie has a wide array of experience from working in a residential setting for domestic violence, working in corrections with incarcerated individuals, specifically who struggle with substance abuse, working in a hospice care setting focusing on helping families who are experiencing grief and loss, as well as working with individuals and couples in a private practice setting. McKenzie has worked with individuals experiencing the challenges listed above as well as anxiety, depression, stress, obsessive compulsive disorder and trauma amongst others.
McKenzie completed her Master's degree in Social Work at Wheelock College in Boston Massachusetts. McKenzie has a variety of experience in both her personal and professional life which allows her to better understand her clients and help support them through their unique challenges. McKenzie prides herself on meeting clients where they are and creating treatment plans tailored to each individual and their specific needs and goals for treatment.
McKenzies hope in meeting with new clients is to create an environment where they feel comfortable to be open and honest and work through their challenges in a non-judgmental, confidential space. McKenzie leans on client strengths while also exploring areas of growth and solution focused approaches to treatment. Why did you decide to become a counselor?
To help others work through their own trials and tribulations and transform into the best version of themselves! I wanted to be the change I wanted to see in the world.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best with adults and couples age 18-65.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I am most excited to work with clients who are open and ready to make change, work through the hard things and willing to be vulnerable.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
One thing I wish all clients knew was that therapy doesn’t need to be seen as something negative.

What inspires you?
I am inspired by seeing clients make changes and accomplish their goals.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
During a clients first session they can expect a comfortable, relaxed environment where we will get to know each other, build rapport, obtain some background information and understanding on why they are seeking therapy.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
In the first session I hope to start to get to know a client and establish goals and expectations for therapy. I want to allow the client to feel comfortable and ask any questions they may have about the therapy process.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
Clients should know that they will get out of therapy what they are willing to put into it.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
On my time off I enjoy spending time with my children and family!
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
One thing that defines me is my organization and attention to detail.
