Kirsten Lowell is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW). Kirsten’s early work centered around helping adolescents and young adults with visual impairments and additional disabilities to learn and apply social and emotional skills. She encouraged clients to foster independent living skills such as self-advocacy, personal safety, and executive functioning. Cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, and strengths-based treatments inform Kirsten's integrated generalist approach to therapy.
Kirsten completed her Master of Social Work (MSW) at Simmons University. Prior to joining Thriveworks, she coordinated a medication-assisted treatment (MAT) program aimed at medication management and treating co-occurring disorders such as substance abuse, anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, and relationship issues.
Kirsten seeks to meet you where you are, strengthen your coping skills, and build a collaborative working relationship to improve overall wellness. Kirsten believes in creating a warm and compassionate space where clients can explore and process their thoughts and feelings.

I find inspiration in nature, travel, food, books and people!
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
Clients can expect me to listen and affirm their ability to show up. A first session can feel awkward, confusing and uncomfortable so I will work to pace our time and guide the conversation. I try to introduce the structure of therapy sessions, answer questions and hear what you want from our time together.
