Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I have always been a support person in my personal life and counseling felt natural from the beginning.
What types of clients do you work with best?
Clients who are focused and want to feel better and also have not been taught to explore their emotions. Also, women and young adults seem to be a good match as well.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I am excited about anyone who wants to try therapy.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
I wish all clients knew that you don't always connect to a therapist right away and sometimes a session can make you process more than you want.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I am hopeful for a hybrid practice with a formal salary and unique client population.
What inspires you?
Positive mindset, simplicity and growth.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
Introduction to therapy ie safety and questions answered by therapist. Intake of their understanding of treatment and reason for seeking counseling.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I want to have a good understanding of why an individual sought treatment and their hope for session.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
I am compassionate, focused and direct. I listen and provide feedback to my clients in a positive and honest style which motivates increased self esteem and growth.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
Spend time with my husband and 3 children. I also have 2 dogs and a cat and we enjoy being home with our full house. I enjoy reading, watching movies, nature and walking our dogs.
Can you tell us about a success you had with a client?
I have had success working with many women clients who have not had the opportunity to explore their self esteem and future without input from others. I am successful with most clients who are open to therapy and supportive feedback during their difficult experience.
