Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I made a mid career change from Human Resources to counseling because I thought it would be more rewarding and a way to help people in a different more empowering way.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best with clients who are interested in personal growth and like an interactive style with their therapist.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I really enjoy working with almost everyone, but particularly enjoy working with people who are motivated and want to grow.
What’s one thing you wish all clients knew?
I wish all clients knew that connecting with a therapist is a personal thing, and that they have the right to work with a new therapist if they are not able to make the connection in their current relationship.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I chose to practice at Thriveworks because it was a unique opportunity to work with a variety of people to help them work toward their personal goals.
What inspires you?
Seeing people grow and change in ways that inspire them.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
The first session is a time for a client to share as much as they are comfortable sharing about why they are seeking counseling and some of the history that led to that decision. Clients can expect that I will not judge them or try to put them in a category because I see each person as unique.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I would like to know as much as a client is comfortable sharing about the challenges they are experiencing and how they perceive them. I would also hope to agree upon what their treatment goals are so that we have a platform to work from together.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
Spend time with family, read, hike, and be as close to the ocean as often as possible.
What’s one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I am by nature a happy and hopeful person.
